For 30 years, Minnesota FoodShare has been partnering with local food shelves to help our neighbors in need. The March Campaign, our annual statewide effort, is the only one of its kind and raises more than half the food distributed by 300 food shelves. Every dollar donated to Minnesota FoodShare during the March Campaign goes directly to food shelves to purchase food for the hungry.
We invite you to join individuals throughout our state’s congregations, companies, civic groups, and schools to help our neighbors in need.
Steps to participate, it’s simple!
- Brainstorm a fun way to raise food and/or funds for your local food shelf and determine a goal.
- Ask others to help. Recruit family, friends, neighbors, coworkers, or individuals to help organize your drive.
- Promote your drive. Check out the e-store to get this year’s posters, stickers, donation envelopes and more!
- Hold your March Campaign Drive.
- Deliver your donations to your food shelf no later than the first Friday in April.
What to collect:
Food Donations – Food shelves need all types of food, paper, personal hygiene and cleaning products. Contact your food shelf and ask what they need most right now.
Cash Donations – Easier to collect and deliver, food shelves can stretch cash donations further because of their access to discount products and programs. Cash also gives them more flexibility to acquire perishable items like fresh produce, meat and dairy products.
